While Ballynahinch Castle has always embraced our rich fishing heritage and provides the platform for anglers to participate in some of Ireland's finest fishing, we also recognise our responsibilities to ensure our salmon populations are maintained and even improved for future generations. With this in mind we have adopted a strict catch and release policy on the entire catchement in collaboration with the Ballynahinch Catchment Co-Operative. As part of this local group and Inland Fisheries Ireland we have been working with the collective aim of improving the wider Ballynahinch catchment to increase the salmon population. We have engaged professional ecological engineers to form a habitat restoration plan.
In our restaurants we only serve sustainably caught seasonal fish.
