Things to do near Ballynahinch Castle

The perfect time for a walk through the estate on the last day of May. Birdsong carries through the woodland, the river moves alongside the paths, and a long stroll beneath a canopy that’s fully come into leaf. 🌿

There’s a particular freedom to summer at Lettery Lodge. Long lunches in the garden, days exploring the estate, and evenings gathered around the table as the light fades outside. With Ballynahinch Castle just beyond the door, it offers the freedom of a private house alongside the ease of the Castle.

Cian and the team are seeing the garden shift quickly now that we are in May. Tender plants are moving back outdoors, the vegetable beds are filling up, and the greenhouse is beginning to take on a life of its own again. Rhubarb harvesting is well underway, tomatoes are being planted under cover, and attention is turning towards summer pots, baskets and window boxes. 

May is when the estate begins to bloom. Across 700 Acres of woodland, river and lakeshore, the landscape shifts day by day, with trails leading you through it at your own pace. A beautiful time to plan a stay and take it all in.
