In Connemara by Mick O’Dea is the fourth book of a series of limited edition artists’ books published in a collaboration between Ballynahinch Castle and Occasional Press.
The original idea was that a number of artists would be invited to the castle as a base from which to explore the surrounding terrain to bring back a ‘sketchbook’ of imagery, recording whatever aspects of the Connemara landscape particularly engaged their attention.
The first book in this series was made by David Lilburn, the second by Donald Teskey, and the third by Joe Wilson.
Some of these initial ‘sketchbook’ encounters led to the production of more developed, finished works as well, according to the individual artist’s own interests and way of working.
Each of the books offers us a new uniquely individual insight into that wild and beautiful Atlantic landscape. This is an unique and captivating study of Connemara by Mick O'Dea.
