When visiting Connemara, there is no escaping the majestic beauty of The Twelve Bens Mountain Range. They are a striking group of small mountains in Connemara. They are sometimes called the Twelve Pins or Beanna Beola which means “The Peaks of Beola” in Irish. The tallest peak Benbaun is 730m and the smallest peak is Benglenisky at 516m. The Twelve Bens provide excellent walking and hiking opportunities. You do not have to be an experienced climber to enjoy the picturesque surroundings. They are accessible from the N59 road or from the village of Letterfrack and
guided walks are available.
