On the small remote island of Inisbofin Cromwell’s Barracks lies within a star shaped fort. Originally built in the 16th century by Cromwell's regime the Castle was used to house captured catholic clergy that were declared guilty for high treason after the introduction of English Statue in 1655. You can walk along the coast from the harbor to the entrance.

 

Located on Inisbofin Island. Daily ferry's are available to Inishboffin from Cleggan. Cleggan is approx. 45 minutes drive from Ballynahinch.
