located west of Clifden town in Connemara, County Galway, is a ruined manor house built around 1818 by John D'Arcy, the founder of Clifden. Constructed in the Gothic Revival, the castle features pointed arched windows, several towers, and two round turrets1. It served as the D'Arcy family's primary residence until financial difficulties during the Great Famine led to its sale in 18501. The castle fell into disrepair after becoming uninhabited in 1894 and is now a picturesque ruin, accessible via a scenic walk from the nearby Sky Road.
