Our Environmental Policy

Our Environmental Policy

At Ballynahinch Castle Hotel, we know the importance of the environment, so we have made many efforts to improve our practices and are proud to call ourselves one of the finest eco hotels in Connemara, Co. Galway. All our staff are committed to the ever-growing goal of sustainability, and we are dedicated to learning and improving our policies and practices, so as a guest of Ballynahinch Castle, you can enjoy your sustainable hotel stay in Connemara.

At Ballynahinch Castle, we have high standards of energyefficiency. We have implemented many strategies to reduce our energyconsumption, so you can have a guilt free conscience when you stay with us. Ourheating system is among one of the reasons we consider ourselves an eco-hotel,as are our extensive measures to incorporate energy saving thermostats, energyefficient lighting, and carbon free energy sources as a part of our energyconservation programme, which is audited by Green Hospitality Programme.

Water and waste reduction are a large priority for us at Ballynahinch Castle. The hotel has its own waste-water treatment plant on-site, which means it’s entirely self-sufficient. We understand that excessive water and waste is a huge energy drain, and as we endeavour to continuously reduce our carbon footprint,we have taken many actions to remove the waste of water and goods. Some of these actions include water efficient taps, showers, and toilets, towel and linen reuse programmes, as well as recycling and compost programmes. We hope these actions are leading to a better future with more sustainable hotels.

At Ballynahinch Castle we know that your confidence in us is also confidence in our suppliers, so we have ensured that our responsible purchasing policy includes organic, locally sourced food and beverages, many vegetarian and vegan options, and eco-friendly materials.

Our Takeaway cups and sandwich containers for our Garden Café and picnics are fully compostable. We segregate all our bins in to three sections: General, Recycling and Compostable.
