Clifden Railway Line

Starting from Ballynahinch Castle Hotel this walk follows the route of the old Midland-Great Western Railway. The walk will initially follow some of the hotel’s idyllic riverside walks before passing near the now disused Ballynahinch Train Station.

Once “all aboard” upon the old tracks our guide will show you along the tracks of the historic railway. Weaving through the scenic lakes and plains of the lake speckled Roundstone bog, famed for its importance for local and migratory birds, you will see some of the most breathtaking panoramas Connemara walking has to offer.
