To celebrate the Natural Heritage of Connemara in Galway Ballynahinch Castle Hotel is hosting a number of events.
Participate in our Natural Heritage - Sunday 22nd - Thursday 2nd September
A two night break exploring the architectural, social and natural history of Connemara. Resident guide will take our guests on an exploratory hike uncovering the contemporary and historic fabric of this unique environment. From 5000 year old Crannogs to 16C Tower Houses, from planned planting to exotic species the secrets of an ancient land will be revealed. This program culminates in the planting of a native hardwood by each guest which is then recorded for posterity in the tree register.

Open Day at Ballynahinch Castle – Monday 23rd August
On Monday 23rd August visitors are welcome to come and get an insight into the workings and protection of our National Heritage that is an Irish Country Estate. Explore woodland management, salmon habitat enhancement, and conservation. At 11.00am Estate Manager Mr. Simon Ashe BA. Env. Sci. will deliver a 15 minute talk on the nature of the country estate before taking the guests on an extended and narrated walk of the wider estate.

Monty Hall for Dinner - Thursday 26th August
On Thursday 26th of August guests of the hotel will have the unique pleasure of attending an after dinner talk and presentation by Marine Biologist and BBC program maker Monty Hall of Monty’s Great Escapes. Monty is undertaking a six month Dolphin and Whale research program in Connemara and will enthral us with footage of and insights to this wonderful resource.
