Connemara National Park situated in the scenic west coast of Ireland spans for nearly 3,000 hectares. The park offers some majestic views which includes picturesque mountains, expanses of bog lands, heaths, grasslands and woodlands. Some of these mountains form part of the famous
Twelve Bens mountain range.
There are scenic walking routes suitable for all levels. There are walkways, nature trails and wooden boardwalks over the bog. There is also the popular walking route of
Diamond Hill.
Connemara National Park shares a little history with Ballynahinch Castle - during the early 19th century part of the park was once owned by
Richard Martin, who also owned Ballynahinch estate. Richard was known as Humanity Dick and he one of the founding members of the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.
